Johnsons Lab Logistics – just what the doctor ordered for Redx Pharma

The Situation

Redx Pharma is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on discovering and developing novel, small molecule, highly-targeted therapeutics to treat cancer and fibrotic disease and the emerging area of cancer-associated fibrosis.

The company was originally based in the Royal Liverpool Hospital’s Duncan Building, but after demolition of this site in 2017 moved its headquarters to Alderley Park in Cheshire.

Several fridges/freezers needed to be relocated between Liverpool and Alderley Park with samples kept at specific temperatures.

The Solution

We used our powered transport so if the vehicle broke down in between the collection and delivery address then the fridges and freezers wouldn’t be compromised.

We also provided polystyrene sample boxes, gel packs and dry ice to ensure we kept all items at appropriate transfer temperatures.

Our full project management plan included:

  • Allocating the same staff from previous projects at Alderley Park – utilising site knowledge built up over the years;
  • A full-time, on-site, project manager;
  • PRINCE2-certified staff;
  • An in-house QHSE Manager and Dangerous Good Safety Advisor to ensure we carried out all working activities in line with appropriate health, safety, environmental and quality regulations, and legislation;
  • Fully-trained and experienced in-house ADR drivers and chemical transfer specialists.
The Outcome

We took advantage of our site knowledge to provide a flexible and dynamic approach to completing this project. We liaised with the Building Manager throughout the process, providing regular updates and reporting into key stakeholders when required. Overall, the project was delivered successfully.
